Resilience-Focused Secondary Physical Education
Abstract
Although competition is not inherently wrong, it is often skewed to focus on the outcome (winning or losing) rather than the experience of participating. Such a focus detracts from the foundational purpose of physical education and limits opportunities for many students. This article describes how teachers can develop a resilience-focused curriculum by providing ample opportunities for practice and repetition, utilizing challenges for skill application, and involving all students regardless of ability.
