Thermodynamic properties of fluids with the spherical Carra-Konowalow potential
Abstract
Thermodynamic properties of a fluid governed by the Carra-Konowalow potential were calculated using Monte Carlo simulations. The study characterises both the single-phase region and vapour-liquid equilibrium. From the simulation data, analytical expressions for the critical point parameters, saturated vapour pressure, coexistence densities, and a single-phase equation of state were derived. The behaviour of the Zeno line was analysed. Parameters for the potential were fitted to some real substances, demonstrating good agreement with the properties of noble gases.
