Towards an emergency economic science: beyond Adolph Lowe’s Political Economics
Abstract
We live surrounded by unsolved environmental and economic emergencies which lead to questioning the political relevance of actual economic science and policies. This is why we need a well-founded economic science, capable of rigorously justifying economic policies to avoid and solve emergencies, an emergency economic science. In this text, I start from Adolph Lowe’s proposal of a Political Economics to show how it can pave the way towards such an emergency economic science if we abandon liberal understanding of science in favour of a constructive understanding of science, thus aiming at methodically-scientifically justifying economic goals and systems.
