Abstract

Tunable diffusion coefficients of weakly-coupled (WC) dusty plasma systems have been investigated using equilibrium molecular dynamics (EMD) over a wide range of plasma states (Γ, κ). The EMD simulations are carried out for three dimensional (3D) Yukawa system, under normalized uniaxial electric field (E*), in a canonical ensemble. The order–disorder structure method is proposed that the plasma system remains in a gaseous state for weakly coupled regimes. The Green-Kubo EMD simulations show that the diffusion coefficient decreases with increasing Γ, but it increases with increasing κ and E*. The new outcomes are found to be in fair agreement at different (Γ, κ) and have the same trends as those obtained from the earlier known numerical outcomes for Coulomb and Yukawa plasma systems in WC regimes. Moreover, it is demonstrated that there is a clear association between the diffusion coefficient and the plasma states, which maintains the highest values of diffusion coefficient. These highest values indicate the kinetic and potential contributions to the diffusion coefficient in WC dusty plasmas. Furthermore, the present EMD investigations predict that the uniaxial diffusion coefficients are obtained for a wide domain of Γ with an enlarged range of E* in 3D WC regime and to explore the microscopic interactions in the plasma system across the WC regimes in order to understand the fundamental nature of dusty plasmas.
