Abstract

The present analytical theory is developed to study a novel approach of a skew cosh-Gaussian (SChG) laser beam’s effective and resonant absorption on vertically aligned anharmonic carbon nanotubes (VAACNTs) arrays embedded with a dielectric surface. Each identical carbon nanotube is vertically mounted on the dielectric surface. The considered profile of laser beam radiation propagates along the transverse axis of the nanotubes, and the field will efficiently ionize the atoms of the anharmonic nanotube to generate the preformed nanoplasma. Owing to the phase alignment of the laser polarizing field, the electrons of anharmonic nanotubes efficiently oscillate with respect to immobile ions parallel to the nanotube arrays. The displaced electron cylinder due to the application of a laser electric field causes the restoration force that induces a space charge field associated with anharmonicity. The normal oscillations of electrons along the axial direction of nanotubes are neglected, and the surface plasmon oscillation occurs on the interface of anharmonic nanotubes and the dielectric surface. The nonlinearity arises due to the anharmonicity and large oscillations of conducting electrons that incur the efficient and resonant absorption process. The various graphical profiles of the absorption coefficient depict that it is strongly influenced by varying the laser skewness parameter, order of laser beam, initial beam width, electron-ion collisional frequency, characteristic anharmonicity factor, inter-nanotube separation, and size of nanotube. This proposed model of the nonlinear laser absorption process on anharmonic nanotube can have potential applications in sensing and high-speed communication.
