Synthesis, characterization and biological efficiency of novel azo-metal organic framework derived from sulfamethazine moiety
Abstract
New metal complexes [Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II)] were synthesized by the metallization of sulfamethazine with metal salts under the appropriate experimental conditions in good yields. The structural aspects of the metal complexes were explored by various spectroscopic and analytical techniques such as elemental analysis, FT-IR, electronic absorption spectra, mass, ESR, magnetic susceptibility measurements, powder XRD and thermogravimetric studies. Based on the physical and spectroscopic information structural features and geometry were proposed for all the synthesized metal complexes. Further, the ligand and its metal complexes were assessed for various biological investigations like antibacterial, antioxidant and antituberculosis studies. The biological strength of the ligand has been enhanced upon coordination with the metal ions. All the metal complexes exhibited remarkable biocompatibility than the parent ligand.
