Abstract

Based on resort hotels align with the “escape from” motivations and “escape to” aspirations of tourists, the study employed qualitative and quantitative methods, and developed an experiencescape scale for resort hotels based on the factors of “sensory embodiment,” “entering to the mountains and wilderness,” and “cultural aesthetics” consisting of 15 items. Experiencescapes positively affected the “acceptance of self and life” and “personal competence” aspects of psychological resilience; “acceptance of self and life” positively affected life satisfaction, and “acceptance of self and life” fully mediated the effect of experiencescapes on life satisfaction. Our findings offer suggestions for resort hotels tourism marketing.
