Abstract

Past coeditors of the 2015 issue Empowering Educators to Evaluate reflect on the impetus for that issue and how the field of museum evaluation has evolved over the past 10 years. The editors highlight significant milestones in the museum evaluation field, including the establishment of evaluation networks, investment in capacity building, and redefining evaluator competencies. However, evaluation in museums must continue to adapt to new social and political pressures that are significantly altering the museum landscape. The editors leave museum educators with a call to action – to continue to apply an evaluation mindset to their work, regardless of organizational priorities or financial support.
