Abstract

As dynamic learning spaces, art museums offer educational programs catering to visitors of all ages. This study examines how the concept of inclusive museums is reflected in the educational programs of art museums in Türkiye, with a particular focus on feminist perspectives and the representation of women in museum education. The study explores museum educators’ awareness of inclusive museum education through a feminist lens, analysing the educational content developed for women and the practical methods used in these programs. Using semi-structured interviews as a qualitative research method, the study gathers insights from volunteer museum educators in Türkiye, ensuring confidentiality. Findings reveal that museum educators emphasize accessibility, interdisciplinarity, collaboration, and diversity as key components of inclusive education. However, significant challenges remain, including financial constraints, accessibility barriers, and institutional limitations that hinder the full integration of feminist pedagogical approaches. This research makes an original contribution to feminist museology by offering a contextual analysis of inclusive museum education in Türkiye, bridging global feminist pedagogical frameworks with localized museum practices. The study provides practical insights for museum policymakers, educators, and cultural institutions, highlighting the need for institutional support, sustainable funding, and structured training programs to enhance feminist-inclusive museum education.
