Can macroeconomic expectations affect green concern? The role of self-efficacy
Abstract
We examine how individuals’ subjective macroeconomic expectations influence their green concern. By measuring green concern through both consumption and investment perspectives, the study comprehensively explores their causal link. Using self-efficacy as the core mechanism, it reveals the intrinsic connection between macroeconomic expectations and green concern, clarifying the endogenous motivation of individual in achieving dual carbon goals. The results indicate that individuals with more positive macroeconomic expectations demonstrate stronger green concern due to their typically higher self-efficacy.
