Abstract

It is argued that improved street connectivity contributes to vitality and accessibility to passenger rail services, thus promoting the shift to sustainable transport, particularly in cities of the developing world with irregular street layouts and limited pedestrian infrastructure. This research examines the effects of design changes to increase connectivity of the soi with the major road system in Bangkok. First, vitality is evaluated for three soi morphological types. Second, two design changes are introduced to produce smaller blocks on the existing road and block system to evaluate the effects on metro accessibility.
