Abstract

The focus, nature, intent, and impact of academic development activities have been researched for decades. What has not yet been established are the standards that constitute good practice in this field. Nominations for the Australasian Academic Development Good Practice Awards were analysed and coded through action research. The outcome was the Academic Development Standards Framework, which set outs criteria, standards, and descriptors for good practice. The framework is offered as a benchmarking tool for academic developers to self-assess and enhance their practice, to support institutions to assure quality, and to assist learning leaders in evidencing arguments for resourcing academic development programs.
