Abstract

This study presents an alternative SS275 steel assembled buckling-restrained brace (SS275-BRB), designed with detachable restraining units that allow for quick installation, inspection, and replacement of the core element following seismic events. The brace is entirely constructed using SS275 steel plates and bolts, promoting material consistency, reduced weight, and ease of fabrication. From experiments, key performance indicators were systematically analyzed and results demonstrated stable hysteretic response. Furthermore, finite element models were developed using ABAQUS, and their results showed good agreement with experimental data, validating the model’s effectiveness. The findings provide valuable insights for implementing BRBs in seismic-resistant structures.
