Abstract

This study examined the impact of digital–real integration (DRI) on corporate green governance performance (GGP) and its underlying mechanisms using a panel of Chinese A-share listed firms from 2010 to 2023. The findings reveal that (1) DRI significantly improves corporate GGP, verifying the effectiveness of the ‘digital green transformation’ path; (2) The promoting effect of DRI on corporate GGP is mainly realized through the dual mediating mechanisms of ‘total factor productivity’ and ‘green innovation’; (3) Executives’ green cognition, employee green digital literacy and environmental regulation each exert significant positive moderating effects on the nexus between firms’ DRI and their GGP. Our findings provide micro-level evidence for the green dividends of digital transformation and offer actionable insights for policymakers and firms pursuing sustainable development.
