A model for a strong Black woman mindfulness-based stress reduction program
Abstract
This article presents a therapeutic approach to address the complex aftermath of child sexual abuse in Black women. The proposed approach combines mindfulness-based stress reduction with the strong Black woman model, focusing on empowerment and community support as crucial components of trauma recovery, while considering the intersections of race, culture, gender, and trauma, and the neurobiological implications. It offers a culturally responsive intervention with clear implications for social workers.
