Abstract

The complexity, sophistication, and delivery of hospitality and tourism education now offer historically high standards. But the continued vibrancy of the enterprise depends on continued evolution. A revolutionary approach is not appropriate because of the nature of the higher education learning curve, which now incorporates a global perspective, as underscored in this journal issue. This new framework suggests that leadership in managing hospitality and tourism colleges, schools, and similar educational programs can guide this evolution. Through that lens, we explore the future of hospitality education from five perspectives that reflect key success factors: harvesting wisdom, managing change and adversity, leveraging shared governance, underscoring differentiation, and building a legacy.
