Abstract

Modern engineering applications notably high-speed transit systems and airplane fuselages need innovative sandwich structures to efficiently control accelerating and harmonically driven moving loads. This current research examines the dynamic response of a sandwich cylindrical shell with a porous exponentially functionally graded material (E-FGM) core and functionally graded carbon nanotube-reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) face sheets under a concentrated moving harmonic load including constant acceleration. via applying the Hamiltonian method and first-order shear deformation shell theory, the equations of motion are obtained. Next, the time-dependent dynamic deflection behavior is achieved by applying the state-space method (SSM) for simply supported boundary conditions. Parametric investigation studies the influence of initial position and velocity of the load, acceleration magnitude, and time history on the dynamic behavior. Furthermore, the influence of core material inhomogeneity, carbon nanotube distribution patterns, volume fractions and porosity, and thickness ratios on the structural response is examined for different geometric configurations. The findings obtained provide guidance for the design of sandwich structures that are used in high-speed precision machining, aerospace components, disk systems in vehicles, and railroads, all of which experience moving load scenarios with harmonic motion and acceleration.
