Vibration analysis of FGM-faced sandwich cylindrical shells (FGCS) with auxetic and non-auxetic honeycomb cores using a novel hyperbolic higher-order shear deformation theory
Abstract
This work focuses, on analyzing the free vibration behavior of sandwich cylindrical shells composed of auxetic and non-auxetic honeycomb cores with functionally graded face sheets, employing a new hyperbolic advanced shear deformation theory. The FGM properties are assumed to vary continuously through the thickness. The proposed theoretical framework, the refined hyperbolic shear deformation theory (RHSDT) is utilized to effectively model both bending and shear deformations, providing an accurate depiction of the intricate mechanical behavior of honeycomb sandwich cylindrical shells. The governing equations are derived using Hamilton’s principle, and natural frequencies are calculated via the Navier technique. Examples are presented to illustrate the validity of the new shear function. The influence of material and geometric parameters on the natural frequencies is investigated for structures with FGM faces and honeycomb cores, both auxetic and non-auxetic.
