Abstract

The invention of high efficiency proton exchange membranes (PEMs) will rely on solar-powered fuel cells. The current study discusses the addition of mixed halide perovskites into Nafion membranes to enhance the proton flux with the effect of photons. The hybrid membranes synthesis was performed by solution-casting method, and the structures were analyzed by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopic and UV–vis spectroscopic analysis to establish the structural integrity and even distribution of the perovskite. The hybrid membranes were more durable and able to maintain high conductivity over extended durations of operation, which was superior to the conventional Nafion membranes.
