Abstract

In Africa, basic aspects of the natural history of many birds remain unknown, even for species inhabiting regions transformed by human activities. This report describes a nest of the Sierra Leone Prinia (Schistolais leontica), an Endangered species that ranges from western Guinea to eastern Côte d’Ivoire. The domed nest shape was found in May 2023 in Pic de Fon, Guinea. The nest exhibited certain features, such as a dome nest architecture and large leaves on the nest for protection, not commonly found in other species of the family Cisticolidae. We document this observation and discuss the nest architecture of this bird.
