ESG investment intentions among young investors in the Vietnam stock market
Abstract
This study explores the behavioral intentions of young Vietnamese investors regarding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investments. Using survey data from over 500 investors aged 18 to 30, the findings reveal that higher education levels and urban residency increase ESG investment participation. Perceived consumer behavior and behavioral control positively influence investment intentions, highlighting the role of self-efficacy and social influence. Subjective norms shape decisions through social pressures, while perceived risk negatively impacts ESG investment willingness. These insights emphasize the importance of education, social influence, and risk perception in shaping young investors’ engagement with sustainable investment opportunities.
