Abstract

This activity allows students to reflect on their small-group decision-making practices. Students apply organizational constructs, including analogical reasoning, functional theory of group decision-making, and various typologies of small-group decision-making, to their own practices. The activity results in student application of organizational constructs to their own behaviors and greater self-reflexivity of which information they privilege in the process.Courses Sport Communication, Organizational Communication, Training and Development, Business and Professional Communication, Intergroup Communication, and Gender Communication. Objectives After completing this activity, students will be able to (1) reflect on their own dispositions toward small-group decision-making; (2) examine their decision-making practices through the lens of decision-making typologies, functional theory of group decision-making, and analogical reasoning; and (3) apply inclusive decision-making practices to future small-group discussions.
