Abstract

This essay proposes a counterintuitive perspective on Chloe Delaume’s creation: a realist approach. The importance of “the real” in Delaume’s work can be, we contend, discussed by taking the cue on the philosophical stream of “new realisms” that rethink reality and the real according to ontological conceptions to which science studies have a seminal contribution. Ian Hacking’s experimentalist realism seems to us to be the closest to the relationship that Delumian creation maintains with reality and the real, both in her texts and performances. The main corpus on which we focus our attention is made up of the performances from the cycle Corpus Simsi (Citation2003) and two texts: J’habite dans la télévision (Citation2006) and La Règle du Je. Autofiction : un essai (Citation2010)‚ but reference to the whole of her work will be made.
