Abstract

This study examines the impacts of Texas Senate Bill 17, which banned Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programmes and initiatives at public universities. Utilising Critical Race Theory and social movement scholarship, this ethnographic study examines the immediate and ongoing impacts of Senate Bill 17, with particular attention to grassroots resistance efforts led by students, faculty, and community organisations. Drawing on participant observation, social media analysis, and policy analysis, this study documents how various actors mobilised in response to the bill.
