Abstract

The study analyzes the production of an audio documentary at the Associação Polivalente São José (APSJ), a non-governmental organization in Goiânia, in Brazil’s Central-West region, showing how this practice strengthens community engagement and contributes to shaping the cultural identities of the adolescents served. Grounded in the perspective of independent and socially oriented radio, the initiative broadens spaces for expression among marginalized communities. The results indicate that the process of creating the audio documentary fosters access to popular communication, enabling communities to appropriate media languages and technologies, thereby strengthening their rights to communication and social participation.
