Abstract

This study explores the specific impact of Christianity on corporate enterprises in South Africa, focusing on its influence on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). It begins by establishing a conceptual framework and providing a historical overview of CSR, tracing its evolution. The role of ethics in CSR practices is analysed, highlighting how Christian principles—such as love, social justice, and stewardship—shape corporate behaviour and social engagement. The study also examines challenges and opportunities in aligning CSR objectives with Christian values, including ethical dilemmas and cultural complexities. Additionally, it emphasises the potential role of the South African church in strengthening its influence on CSR initiatives. The paper concludes with recommendations on how the church can leverage its resources and networks to promote responsible corporate citizenship, thereby fostering more ethical and community-centred corporate practices in South Africa.
