Resilience and Resistance Among Holocaust Survivors: Lessons Learned
Abstract
PURPOSE: This study used an existing database to explore the relationship between resilience and resistance among Holocaust survivors. METHOD: A qualitative constant comparison approach was applied to revisit the dataset repeatedly, refining and organizing the data into thematic categories. DISCUSSION: A comprehensive analysis showed that participants engaged in behaviors that can be understood as forms of resistance. CONCLUSION: While additional research is needed, the findings suggest a strong connection between behaviors characterized as resilient and those interpreted as resistant.
