Temperature-dependent viscosity of melt-cast explosive melt and glassy matter: theoretical modeling and factors analysis
Abstract
Abstract The high precision acquisition and prediction of the viscosity at different temperatures will significantly affect the charge quality of melt-cast explosive, and further provide the theoretical basis for the design of the next generation of high-energy and low sensitivity explosives. In this study, we investigated the evolution mechanism of viscosity of the melt-cast explosive melt and glassy matter at different temperatures. Then, based on the principle of force-heat equivalence energy density (FHEED) and combining the Arrhenius equation and the Vogel–Fulcher–Tammann (VFT) equation, the temperature-dependent viscosity theoretical models which can accurately predict the viscosity change behavior of the melt and glassy matter at arbitrary temperatures were established. The rationality and practicality of the two models was well verified by comparing the model predictions with the experimental data of various explosive melt and glassy matter. This study provides a feasible and accurate theoretical method for predicting the viscosity of explosive melt and glassy matter at different temperatures, and also offers a theoretical basis for the molding-process design of molten explosives and glassy matter.
