Abstract

Abstract The emergence of topological states has led to enhanced waveguiding and localization phenomena in acoustic and elastic metamaterials. This work introduces a strategy for flexible wave localization using programmable topological interface states in piezoelectric metamaterial beams. By properly tuning inductive shunt circuits, wave interface states are created and modulated, while the geometrical properties of the host structure remain unchanged. Through smooth modulations of electrical properties, the interface can be dynamically relocated along the beam, enabling efficient energy transfer while minimizing energy leakage. The effects of modulation smoothness and damping level on wave localization are investigated, identifying the optimum conditions for robust energy transfer. This approach paves the way for the development of adaptive devices with applications in structural health monitoring, sensing, and energy harvesting, offering innovative wave manipulation using topological metamaterials.
