Magneto-levitation characteristics of an HTS tapes stack at different cooling heights in a field of a permanent magnet
Abstract
Abstract This paper presents the results of experimental and numerical studies of the levitation characteristics of a HTS suspension consisting of a composite HTS tapes stack based on the YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7-x compound and an array of cylindrical NdFeB permanent magnets. In particular, the magneto-force characteristics (rigidity and levitation force) of the system cooled by liquid nitrogen under field-cooling (FC) conditions have been considered. For different cooling heights, load characteristics have been obtained for both vertical and lateral displacements of the HTS element relative to the magnets, and the dynamics of changes in the rigidity of the levitation system have been considered. The key result of the study is the identification of a tendency towards a decrease in the maximum repulsive vertical force and a simultaneous increase in the maximum guidance restoring force as the cooling height of the HTS tapes stack decreases.
