Soliton solutions to coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations with exotic nonlinear coupling terms
Abstract
A set of coupled nonlinear Schro¨dinger (NLS) equations is derived from a model describing few-cycle optical pulse propagation in nonlinearly coupled waveguides. The nonlinear coupling terms strongly differs from the known ones. Families of vector solitons are found analytically using the one-soliton solution of the NLS equation and their stability is studied numerically. The evolution of pulse propagation when either the coupling constant or the pulse amplitude is varied is also considered. Both symmetrical and dissymmetric breathers are put forward.
