Design and analysis of a uniformly pumped solar-pumped slab laser
Abstract
Abstract A power-scalable uniformly pumped solar-pumped slab laser is proposed. The system employs two off-axis parabolic mirrors and two-dimensional compound parabolic concentrators for solar concentration, and the laser head integrates two quartz optical waveguides, two water-cooling channels, and a slab gain medium. Two compensated pump windows are introduced through reflective coatings to achieve a uniform pump absorption distribution in the width direction of the slab. TracePro simulations reveal an absorption uniformity of 96% and a variance of 0.0068. With an absorbed pump power of 1070 W, the design enables a theoretical continuous-wave output of 488 W. This approach offers an effective route to solar-pumped slab lasers with absorbed powers beyond 1 kW and provides a valuable reference for laser-diode-pumped slab laser development.
