Abstract

Abstract We investigate diffusion in a heterogeneous medium with stochastic resetting, external drift, and time-dependent diffusivity. In the drift-free case, we derive the propagator, mean square displacement, survival probability, and the first-passage-time distribution. Adding drift, we show how it competes with heterogeneity and resetting: heterogeneity may impede or promote transport, resetting sharpens first-passage-time statistics, and drift favors stabilization. Stationary versus nonstationary behavior is controlled by the long-time properties of the time-dependent coefficients, yielding a wide range of anomalous-diffusion regimes.
