Abstract

Abstract This paper reports the effect of the annealing process on the microstructure and the static and dynamic magnetic properties of submicron-sized amorphous Fe−B particles synthesized by chemical reduction. The synthesized Fe−B particles are spherical with a median size of approximately 801 nm. The crystallization temperature of the particles was determined from differential scanning calorimetry curve as 736 K. As the annealing temperature increased up to 723 K, the saturation magnetization of the particles increased from 143 to 152 emu/g, and the real part of complex permeability increased from 2.92 to 3.95. According to these results, the magnetic properties of Fe−B particles can be markedly improved by the relaxation of internal stress during annealing below crystallization temperature.
