Abstract

Abstract For improving the low-frequency sound absorption of conventional Sonic black hole (SBH) structure, a hybrid absorber composed of micro-perforated plates (MPPs), air cavities, and shunted piezoelectric acoustic metamaterials (SPAM) is proposed. By appropriately altering the parameters of the shunt circuit, the low-frequency sound absorption of the structure can be enhanced while retaining the sound absorption characteristics of MPPs at higher frequencies. A theoretical model is established by the transfer matrix method (TMM), and an acoustic simulation model is built using the finite element method (FEM). The validity of the hybrid absorber model and its effectiveness for low-frequency sound absorption are both confirmed through theoretical analysis and numerical simulations.
