Abstract

Abstract The demand for high-fidelity flow simulations in aerospace and energy engineering necessitates high-order numerical schemes, as these schemes offer low dissipation/dispersion and high accuracy. In particular, the combination of high-order schemes with rotating reference frames provides a vital approach for achieving high fidelity in simulating rotational flows. However, grid transformation may introduce errors that can contaminate the simulation results. To address this challenge, this work investigates the influence of grid metrics calculation on rotating reference frames simulations using high-order finite-difference weighted compact nonlinear schemes (WCNS). A specialized test case is designed to assess the impact of the geometric conservation law (GCL) on simulations in rotating frames.
