Abstract

Abstract During the construction of CO 2 injection wells in offshore carbon sequestration areas or drilling new offshore wells in CO 2 -rich blocks, CO 2 may intrude into the offshore well bore, resulting in well control safety risks. This paper mainly focuses on the effect of CO 2 invasion on the properties of offshore drilling fluid. Using a setup of experimental devices to investigate the density, viscosity, and solubility of the mixed system of CO 2 and drilling fluid under different temperature and pressure conditions. Analyzes the characteristics of CO 2 intrusion according to the experimental data. Some key findings are concluded in this paper.
