Simulation of pressure response for gas generation failure in CVT electromagnetic units and optimization of micro-pressure sensor placement
Abstract
Abstract Partial discharge or thermal decomposition of insulating oil within a CVT closed tank releases characteristic gases such as H 2 and CH 4 , disrupting the gas-liquid equilibrium and causing increased pressure in the top gas chamber. This paper establishes a transient multiphase flow model based on ANSYS Fluent to quantify the evolution patterns of tank pressure and gradient under different gas generation rates. Based on this, a dual-sensor layout scheme featuring a “radial valley-peak transition zone + rounded high-gradient area” is proposed. This configuration enables simultaneous capture of pressure surges and gradient abrupt changes, achieving early, quantitative, and localized monitoring of gas-related faults. The research provides a theoretical basis and engineering-grade placement specifications for online micro-pressure monitoring of CVTs.
