Abstract

Abstract Overhead high-voltage transmission lines are usually installed at considerable heights. During heavy snowfall, severe ice accretion on the lines makes manual removal inefficient, and delays in handling may even lead to line collapse. Therefore, it is necessary to design a de-icing robot to replace manual de-icing operations. This paper mainly introduces the overall mechanical structure of the de-icing robot and, through dynamic analysis, theoretically studies its climbing ability, mass distribution, and obstacle-crossing performance on transmission lines. The results indicate that the designed de-icing robot possesses certain climbing and obstacle-crossing capabilities.
