Comprehensive full-power testing of demonstrator system for the High Granularity Timing Detector
Abstract
Abstract The High Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD) is a spatially segmented timing detector to mitigate pile-up effects and improve vertex reconstruction at the High-Luminosity LHC in the ATLAS Phase-II upgrade. A full-power demonstrator of the HGTD has been constructed to validate the complete readout and control chain under realistic conditions. This is the first demonstration of an HGTD slice running with full power, nominal data rates, and detector control. The tests confirmed reliable ASIC communication, consistent charge calibration, and uniform hit efficiency across modules. The results demonstrate excellent system stability, providing the first full validation of the HGTD electronics and infrastructure under conditions representative of the final detector environment.
