Abstract

Abstract Sustainable development is essentially related to information on food carrying capacity, water carrying capacity, trends in changes in environmental service performance over a period of time, and the status of permits for the utilization of natural resources in a region. In this theme, Malinau Regency plays an important role in the growth of carrying capacity and the environmental load capacity. The research results explain that service performance is more inclined towards food aspects and environmental impacts by providing food in the southern part, such as in the Kayan Hilir District. In modelling food provider carrying capacity, several stages are conducted, namely determining food needs, food availability, the difference in food supply availability, the population threshold against food supply carrying capacity, until the status of food carrying capacity in Malinau Regency can be known. The status has not exceeded the threshold, indicated by the population being lower than the threshold, so the location is still able to support its food needs. Thus, the capacity of support and carrying capacity will have a positive impact on the quality of the environment, especially in determining food needs based on land quality and climate that affect it.
