Applying inclusive development as a strategy for sustainable development in South Sumatera Province
Abstract
Abstract This study aims to analyze the implementation of inclusive development as a strategy for sustainable development in South Sumatera Province. The research employs a qualitative approach based on a literature review using secondary data from planning documents, regulations, scientific articles, and official statistical reports. The findings indicate that, although South Sumatera has significant potential in the agricultural, energy, and mining sectors, several fundamental challenges hinder the achievement of inclusive development. Poverty remains at 12.27%, access to safe drinking water is only 53.54%, and only one out of approximately 2,800 villages has achieved self-sufficiency, reflecting significant regional disparities. Additional challenges include weak institutional coordination, limited funding, low participation of marginalized communities, and resistance from dominant actors. These findings align with the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). To strengthen inclusive development in South Sumatera, it is recommended to implement affirmative policies based on spatial data, enhance access to basic services, strengthen the socio-economic capacities of local communities, and promote participatory governance. The application of these strategies is expected to accelerate the achievement of SDG targets and foster more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable development.
