Differences in phenotypic and carcass characteristics between KUB and Sensi-1 Agrinak chickens
Abstract
Abstract Native chickens hold higher economic value for both eggs and meat in society compared to purebred chickens. This study involved two types of chickens, namely KUB chickens and Sensi-1 Agrinak chickens, each comprising both male and female individuals. The objective of this research was to determine the differences in phenotypic and carcass characteristics between these two types of superior chickens. The study revealed that differences between KUB and Sensi 1 Agrinak chicken strains, in both males and females, significantly affected various phenotypic traits, including body size, internal organs, and carcass characteristics. Female KUB chickens exhibited the smallest body size and carcass, while phenotypic differences between male KUB and Sensi 1 Agrinak chickens were mainly observed in body size and comb morphology. Carcass traits of the two strains were further distinguished by live weight, carcass weight, and major body components.
