Influence of Asia-Australian Monsoon to Sea Level Anomaly and Significant Wave Height in Savu Marine Conservation, Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia
Abstract
Abstract The Asian-Australian monsoon significantly influences dynamics of atmosphere and ocean in the regions it passes through, including the Savu Marine Conservation in Nusa Tenggara Timur. This area boasts a high level of marine biodiversity. Therefore, it is crucial to conduct research on atmospheric and ocean variability in the region to mitigate weather and climate in sea level anomaly and significant wave height. The data used are Jason-3 altimetry satellite, era-5 model, and tidal observation. The method for determining Asian-Australian monsoon uses Kajikawa algorithm, and ocean dynamic are determined using satellite cycles and passes. The results show that Australian monsoon has greater impact than Asian monsoon on sea level anomaly and significant wave height. Wind speed caused by the monsoon is an important factor in determining atmospheric and ocean interaction. Monsoon has a strong correlation with sea level anomaliy and significant wave height. Maximum sea level rise is 0.5 m, and caution should be exercised during new and full moon period. Active monsoon period in the JJA (June, July, August) results in a significant increase in wave height reaching 2.5 m so that it is necessary to be alert to the safety of tourism activities in the area.
