Abstract

Abstract Indonesia’s vast maritime territory has led to many activities related to the sea, one of which is shipping. Although increased maritime activity has social and economic benefits, it also causes problems that have an impact on the oceans’ ecosystem. Seafarers become important in maintaining marine environmental sustainability, so it is essential to raise awareness among seafarers to adopt work behaviour that support marine environmental sustainability. Environmental leadership is one factor that, theoretically, can influence seafarers’ pro-environmental behaviour to protect marine biodiversity and conservation. This study was conducted on 115 Indonesian seafarers to find out the effect of environmental leadership on seafarers’ pro-environmental work practices. Results of this research indicate that leadership influences pro-environmental behavior.
