A multicriteria approach to assessing landslide community resilience
Abstract
Abstract Harjosari Village, located within the highland region of Karanganyar Regency, is highly vulnerable to landslides due its steep terrain and significant rainfall intensity. The recurrent nature of such events underscores the critical need to enhance community resilience as a key strategy for disaster risk reduction. This study employs a multicriteria decision-making approach to assess the level of landslide community resilience in Harjosari. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was utilized to determine the relative weights of various resilience indicators. The assessment encompasses five key dimensions: social, economic, knowledge, physical, and institutional. Data were obtained through a combination of primary sources, including expert interviews with community representatives, and secondary sources such as official documents and relevant literature. The results of the AHP analysis indicate that the knowledge dimension plays a significant role in enhancing community resilience, followed by the institutional and physical dimensions. In contrast, economic vulnerability and limited social cohesion remain as major challenges. Strengthening local knowledge systems and promoting inclusive capacity-building efforts across different demographic groups are essential for improving community resilience in landslide-prone areas.
