Enhancing hydrocarbon identification in low-contrast reservoir by using EFDT® tool in Pamusian field, a case study
Abstract
Abstract Characterising hydrocarbon in low contrast reservoirs is exceptionally challenging because of nominal resistivity contrast in water and hydrocarbon. A case study in Pamusian field on 1350-PAM zone, where fluorescence detector revealed trace amounts of oil show, with high value of Total Gas (TG) reading and clearly low value of Background Gas (BG) reading. Resistivity log in conventional openhole logging, showed low contrast between hydrocarbon and water, making difficult in separation between hydrocarbon and water zone. To take these challenges, leading fluid analysis approach were selected, together with pressure test, density, conductivity, optical spectrum for fluid analysis and fluid sampling by employing the Enhanced Formation Dynamic Tester (EFDT). The EFDT, capable of providing real-time high-resolution data that proved the existence of clear oil, permitting a solid evaluation of 1350-PAM production potential. The decisive fluid test result led to perforate 1350-PAM. As a result, well achieved high fluid production per day, along with producing prominent amount of oil per day. Here outcome proven the leading technique’s potential to optimize fluid identification and enhance production planning in challenging reservoir environment. Favourable implementation of these techniques in Pamusian field mark the significance of addressing hydrocarbon identification challenges and highlights the demand of leading hydrocarbon identification technologies for developing reservoir management. To conclude, the arrangement in Pamusian field productively mark hydrocarbon identification challenges in low-contrast reservoir. Extensive hydrocarbon analysis techniques, in tandem with the leading competence of EFDT, make possible to accurately differentiate between water and hydrocarbon, which result in strong production outcomes. The study here features the critical aspect of leading hydrocarbon identification techniques in enhancing reservoir evaluation, optimizing hydrocarbon recovery, and eventually developing comprehensive reservoir management.
