Abstract

Abstract We propose a novel wavelength division multiplexing device based on the dispersive directional coupling effects of zigzag-path surface plasmon polariton waves in the Au/air/Au plasmonic waveguide with a stub structure, which efficiently separates the wavelengths of 1322.7 nm (1730.0 nm) and 1522.0 nm. Besides, the 10 dB contrast ratio bandwidth value at the wavelengths of 1522.0 nm and 1730.0 nm are 88.1 nm and 79.6 nm, respectively. The proposed plasmonic structure can be used as a building block in compact photonic integrated circuits.
