Abstract
In the introductory chapter, the motivation for studying polarization in astrophysics is presented. The overall structure of the book is discussed, detailing the focus on single-dish polarimetry from the far-infrared through millimeter portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. A brief timeline of the history of the development of polarimetry is included.
