Abstract

Abstract We propose a novel wavelength selection mechanism based on the modal interference between the fundamental and first high-order modes in a silicon waveguide at the wavelengths of 1363.1 nm and 1362.3 nm. The two wavelengths are efficiently separated using a compact Y splitter. The proposed wavelength selector can be used as a building block in silicon photonic integrated circuits.
